In just a few days my attention will be overloaded for an entire weekend as the Formula 1 season gets underway in Bahrain.
The US F1 Team has withdrawn this year, Red Bull racing is still a favorite of mine – now with a Renault engine!. Button and Hamilton on the same team – maybe some sparks there, but nothing like what I am guessing will happen with Alonso at the Scuderia, new rules such as no refueling, Michael Schumacher returning to the sport with Ross Brawn in charge for MERCEDES! Richard Branson starting the Virgin F1 team… This is going to be fun to watch. And what a great circuit to kick off the season!
But regardless if you follow F1 or not, there is a lesson we can take from the start of a new season.
Every sport has a start and end to their season. At the beginning of the season opportunity reigns. Every competitor has a chance to be the champion. And as the season progresses, winning and losing begin to shape the year, eliminating some from the championship and propelling others to the top of the list. But eventually the season comes to an end and someone wins. And for everyone but the champion, all eyes are focused on the beginning of the next season.
How can we learn from these cycles and improve our lives? Are there things we could do in “normal living world” to systematically incorporate renewal as regularly as sports begin their seasons every year?
What do you think?
